TEE PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION:

Our Train, Empower, Educate (TEE) Program focuses on enhancing the lives of youth who have discontinued their relationship with formal education. Young people choose to stop pursuing formal education for many different reasons, including feeling inadequate with their academic achievements, lacking adequate support, difficulties with peers and teachers, or issues with their home life. The TEE Program allows out-of-school youth to gain experience while working in volunteer vocational training placements. These placements may also grow into a paid position depending on the needs of the particular business and the performance of the contracted youth.Otherwise the youth will gain legitimate experience to add to their resumes and begin building their careers with two professional references.

The CFDE will stay in contact with the companies and the youth placed within their organizations to oversee progress. After completion, the youth will be provided with assistance in developing resumes and offered further counselling services where they may develop a plan of action to reach their dream positions. These plans may include assistance in obtaining housing or meeting other basic/fundamental needs, goals for further training – along with a plan to procure the funds required for any necessary training, and/or creating strategies to be used in efforts to obtain employment from the top 5 company’s they wish to become employed by.

DURATION OF TRAINING:

The program will negotiate a 3 - 6 month placement and provide youth with a Certificate of Recognition given upon completion.

HEALTHY HEARTS BREAKFAST PROGRAM

Research has shown that students are able to learn better when they're well-nourished; eating healthy meals has been linked to higher grades, better memory and alertness, and faster information processing. This program's meal plans were developed using Canada's Food Guide and with the intention of easing the learning process for Albertan children living in poverty.

As part of our mission to help young people reach their highest potential, academically, we will be providing healthy grab-and-go breakfasts for students in elementary school who may otherwise not have anything to eat each weekday morning. Dietary and allergen requirements will also be taken into consideration. The organization of this program will be arranged by staff and volunteers who will be bringing the bagged breakfasts to schools that have students who would benefit from our Healthy Hearts Breakfast program. This program will also be a method of connecting with our community and students who may need future help with pursuing their education. We will be using COVID cautionary measures throughout the repeated processes of this program.
